TOPKATA News – In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and global economic turmoil, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have a vital role in encouraging strong and inclusive economic growth. Therefore, the Government encourages the acceleration or role of MSMEs in the economy. One of them is through Islamic finance.
Islamic finance plays an important role in empowering MSMEs. Because it is able to facilitate sharia (risk-sharing) schemes that are equal, unique and inclusive. This effort will complement and strengthen the Government of Indonesia’s policies in general to MSMEs.
In order to elaborate on the role and development of Islamic finance for MSMEs, the Ministry of Finance again held the 6th Annual Islamic Finance Conference (The AIFC). The activity took place virtually on August 24-25, 2022.
The theme raised in the 6th AIFC was “Islamic Finance Role in MSMEs Empowerment: Boosting Capability and Fostering Inclusiveness for Sustainable Future”. This conference is expected to capture real input and recommendations so that Islamic finance can contribute more to the MSME sector and develop more rapidly.
The theme of AIFC this time is also in line with several priority agendas of the Indonesian Presidency at the G20 forum. One of them is to increase financial inclusivity and accelerate economic recovery.
Therefore, AIFC is also one of the side events of the Indonesian Presidency in the G-20 forum. AIFC is expected to optimize the role of Islamic financing in developing the economy. Through its support for certain sectors, such as MSMEs, women and youth.
In addition, AIFC is also expected to contribute to strengthening the policy framework and knowledge. Who participates in the MSME empowerment ecosystem.
Through Sharia financing such as technological innovation and its digitization. This includes the opportunities and challenges that exist in it, as well as the role of the Government in facilitating them.
