MENTAWAI – The Mentawai Islands Regional Government held a discussion meeting related to the earthquake disaster management that occurred on Monday, August 29, 2022 morning
The meeting was chaired directly by Acting Regent Martinus Dahlan in the meeting room of the Mentawai Islands regent’s office, Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
Pj. Regent Martinus Dahlan explained, There was moderate damage to SD 11 Simalegeg and the church of St. Peter Simalibbeg, health centers and several other residents’ houses.
He also instructed OPD-OPD to help prepare the needs of the community in the refugee camps. These include logistics, tents for evacuation, medicines, lighting, and other necessities.
“All the logistics will be carried by the Nade ship tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully tomorrow the weather will be friendly. So that the distribution of this aid is not hampered and can be enjoyed by our people who are in evacuation,” he said while giving directions.
He also conveyed that people whose houses were not damaged were expected to return to their respective homes. This was conveyed in accordance with a circular letter from the Governor of West Sumatra.
In addition, Head of Mentawai BPBD Novriadi also conveyed that currently, for the next two days the food stock in Simaleg is already available, which is ordered from shops in Simaleg Village.
“Aid such as food, medicine and others. For the next two days it is still possible,” said Novriadi.
The Head of the Health Office, Desti Seminora, reported the same thing regarding the health center that was moderately damaged, namely in Sigapokna village, the walls were cracked and the ceiling collapsed due to the earthquake.
